Christina's primary field of expertise is in biotechnology, where she has significant involvement in the biochemistry and molecular biology fields, as well as in immunology and vaccine technology. Christina received the Degree of BSc (Hons) in Microbiology and Biochemistry at Queens University, Belfast before attending Trinity College Dublin where she graduated with a PhD in Molecular Biology. Christina deals with a wide spectrum of subject matter for her clients and specialises in advising, drafting and patent prosecution in biotechnology, biochemistry and immunology, food science, microbiology, drug delivery systems, diagnostic kits, medical devices, and surgical instrumentation. In addition, Christina also has as considerable experience in Software, Digital and Business Methods patents. Christina advises both local and international clients on optimising the value of their patent and know-how portfolio and advising on technology transfer and licensing agreements.
Christina is a former Managing Partner of Tomkins & Co and has considerable experience in litigation and litigation support in inter partes court proceedings, in representing clients at oral hearings and patent opposition proceedings before the EPO and at coordinating multinational litigation strategies.
Christina has been a Member of Committee for Biotechnology Inventions of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the EPO since 1995 and is also a member of UNION Biotechnology Commission. She is currently president of the Institute of International Trade of Ireland and has been involved as a stakeholder with the Irish Council for Science, Technology and Innovation in the drafting of the National Code of Practice for the Management of IP rights for Public-Private co-funded research. Christina is a fellow of the UK Chartered Institute of Patent Agents and is a European Patent, Trade Mark and Design Attorney
