Mary graduated from National University of Ireland, Galway with a first class honours degree in Chemistry/ Applied Chemistry and was placed first in her class. After her primary degree, she completed a PhD in chemistry in the research field of transition metal oxidation catalysis and their application to asymmetric synthesis.
She has diverse experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry in various roles including Validation, QC, R&D, and Technical Services including design/validation of a licensed testing laboratory which involved, development and implementation of an ISO17025 Quality System.
A role with the CompleMED facility, under the umbrella of the University of Western Sydney, involved complex analytical chemistry of Chinese herbs for the Chinese Herbal Industry, which developed valuable analytical skills and provided exposure to clinical trials and pharmacological studies.
Mary joined Tomkins & Co. in 2006, fulfilling an ambition of pursuing a career in IP. Mary's experience allows her to deal with many inventions in different fields including those in the chemistry, biotechnological, biochemistry, pharmaceuticals, and drug delivery fields.
Mary is an Irish Registered Patent Attorney and UK Chartered Patent Attorney and is currently preparing to sit the European Qualifying Examinations in Spring 2010.
Additionally, she is a qualified Irish and Community Trademark Attorney and Community Design Attorney.
