Peter has a Degree of Bachelor of Civil Law and Post-graduate Diploma in European Law from University College Dublin, along with Certificates in Science and Engineering from the Dublin Institute of Technology. Peter regularly advises on various aspects of patent law, including patent infringement and validity. He provides expert evidence in patent infringement actions and has considerable experience in inter partes proceedings, and representing clients at oral hearings in patent matters. He also advises on assignments, licensing and Trademark matters and has particular expertise in relation to Supplementary Protection Certificates and Industrial Designs.
Peter's expertise in drafting and prosecuting patent applications extends across many technologies including: mechanical and electrical equipment, farm machinery, medical devices, pharmaceutical compositions, food technology and healthcare and consumer products.
Peter is Vice-President of the European Patent Practice Committee of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the EPO. He is a past president of the Irish group of AIPPI and in 1997 received the AIPPI Gold Medal Award for outstanding contribution to the aims of AIPPI.
